The Children’s Village
Cleveland Kurentovanje Children’s Village
The Children's Village, located in the downstairs hall of Slovenian National Home, is comprised of 2000 square feet of play and programing our youngest festival attendees.
Toddler through elementary-school aged youngsters will delight in of several different zones — fun for every interest and ability!
Thanks to our generous sponsors, donors and partners and grantors, everything in the Children's Village is FREE!

Face Painting
In keeping with the theme of our Slovenian Mardi Gras festival, professional face painters will create "masks" for children. This is a free activity, you can optionally provide a tip to the artist but are under no obligation to do so. Check back soon to see when our painters will be available!
Play Zone
The Play Zone is comprised of Babica's (Granny's) Kitchen, Stara Ata's (Grandfather's) Workbench and more, providing youngsters with an opportunity for engaging pretend-play. Play food and tools are labeled with their Slovenian name for an extra element of engagement-based learning.
Block Zone
In this area, children will have all the blocks they need to create a beautiful city, taking inspiration from famed Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik's impact on Ljubljana.
Build a City Station
Cleveland is a city. Ljubljana is a city. Cities look and function differently all over the world! Create your own city with wooden blocks, buildings and train tracks.
Craft Areas
Our 2025 crafts included felt bracelets with bells, cupcake flowers, bird feeders, and beaded necklaces! We can’t wait to announce what the 2026 crafts will be!
Coloring Stations
We will have an assortment of Kurentovanje, spring and Slovenian themed coloring stations for kids of all ages to enjoy.
