Event Description:
Join us for a film screening and a complimentary popcorn treat & online screening as part of the Cleveland Kurentovanje Slovenian Mardi Gras arts and culture festival, of “This is a Robbery!” (To je rop!).
This sharply funny and absurdist Slovenian comedy, follows Rajko, a professional magician who breaks his arm at work and finds himself trapped in a maze of bureaucratic nonsense. Enraged by the injustice, Rajko finds an ally in Marcel, a kind-hearted but impulsive insurance agent who tries to make things right.
The effort to seek accountability and a response within the insurance company spirals when Marcel panics and kidnaps the CEO, dragging a stunned Rajko into a chaotic and darkly comic odyssey across the Slovenian suburbs.
Director Gregor Andolšek transforms a simple insurance dispute into a satirical heist of principle and pride—an everyman’s rebellion against the absurdities of modern bureaucracy. Beneath the slapstick and escalating mishaps lies a poignant question: What happens when ordinary people, crushed by indifference and rules, finally stop surrendering?

About the Director: Slovenian director and screenwriter Gregor Andolšek (1979) holds a graduate degree in Film Directing from the International Film School of Paris, EICAR. His filmography consists of numerous no-/low-budget shorts including The Tunnel (2017), Toilet Stories (2014, with T. Zinajić), and Entre Potes (2008, I. Tobalina). This Is a Robbery! is his debut fiction feature.
