Specific Volunteer Needs for 2024:

Mayor of Children’s Village

As the Mayor of the Cleveland Kurentovanje Children's Village, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-of activities on the date of the Main Festival, located in the Children's Village within the lower level of the Slovenian National Home. Your primary role is to ensure the smooth operation of the Children's Village, guaranteeing a delightful experience for all attendees. You will collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers to support various activities and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for children and families. This volunteer role will be actively engaged in the following:

  1. Event Oversight: Manage and oversee all activities within the Children's Village during the festival. Ensure that scheduled events, such as craft tables, story time, and performances, run smoothly and on time. Note: The events and schedule are already organized, and all materials and supplies will be in place. We also have a professional AV team to run the music and mic. Your role will be to help shepherd the transition and introduction of different activities and performers in the Children’s Village.

  2. Supervision and Communication: Act as the point of check-in and escalation for volunteers supporting different stations within the Children's Village. Delegate tasks and provide guidance as necessary to maintain a cohesive and efficient operation. Escalate any concerns or issues to the Executive Committee via walkie-talkie as necessary and provide regular updates on the village's status.

  3. Attendee Experience: Ensure that all attendees, especially children and families, have a positive and engaging experience. Interact with visitors, address inquiries, and provide assistance when needed.

  4. Safety and Tidiness: Maintain a safe environment within the Children's Village. Regularly inspect the space to ensure cleanliness, address any safety concerns promptly, and manage crowd flow as needed.
