🚗 Parking : Parking is free in the lot adjacent to St. Vitus Church Parish Hall as well as free street parking.

⏰ Time: Doors open at 6:45pm; instruction starts at 7pm. Event ends at 9:30pm.

👕 Dress: Casual with dance appropriate shoes. 

🚶 Ages: Over age 16+

♿ Accessibility: This event is a dance instruction and participants should expect to dance on their feet with another person. 

St. Vitus Church - Parish Hall is a fully accessible space, featuring flat terrain throughout the entrance and interior spaces. The building includes handicap-accessible restrooms. Handicap parking spots are available in the connected flat surface parking lot.

Event Description: 

Get your dancing shoes and learn to polka in this fun, beginner-friendly lesson led by dance instructors from Cleveland-based Slovenian folk dance group, Folklorna Skupina Kres, with support from their dancers as well as volunteers from the Winnipeg, Canada-based group, Slovenian Dance Ansambel Triglav. Beginners and those with little or no dance experience and want to learn, as well as those who know how to polka and just want to dance are all welcome! Attendees will learn the basics of how to dance to classic Slovenian polka & waltz. Thereafter, a live band will play and attendees can practice their new moves on the dance floor and socialize with others. Complimentary soft drinks available.

Volunteers from the Slovenian Cultural Dance Group in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada are pleased to visit friends and family here in Cleveland for the first time in the history of the group.

Established in 1954 and based in Cleveland, Folklorna Skupina Kres is a cultural dance group dedicated to entertaining the Slovenian community with traditional regional dances and stylized polkas.
